What If? stories are almost always a fun read.  Why, because the writer gets to take a familiar character or event and turn them on their head.  Now, if you don’t already have an interest in the character or event, that is getting turned upside down, then you probably will not enjoy it as much as someone who does already have an interest.  That is the situation I found myself in when I read this comic book.  I liked Elektra, as a character, right up to the point when she was brought back from the dead.  When that happened, back in Daredevil #190, I though, this has gone to far, I’m not interested anymore.

Since this What If? is a retelling of those events, only with Daredevil and Elektra switching places, I didn’t enjoy this story as much as some others would.  The artwork also left me cold.  Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad and I’ve seen a lot worse.  It just didn’t do anything for me.  I did like the use of characters like Black Widow, Nick Fury and Foggy Nelson in supporting roles.  I, also, enjoyed Stick’s explanation of how The Advocate and his Hand ninjas are able to takedown The Kingpin and SHIELD with such apparent ease.

In the end, if you’re an Elektra fan I think you’ll really enjoy this issue.  If you’re not an Elektra fan I think you’ll still enjoy it, just not as much.
