Time Masters: Vanishing Point #2

Let me be upfront with everyone and tell you all that I love comics like this, the kind where the story allows the main character(s) to interact with a whole host of other mostly forgotten characters.  In this issue Rip Hunter gets mixed up with Claw, The Unconquerable while Booster hooks up with Starfire and I’m not talking about the one from the Teen Titans.  Classic superheroes and DC fantasy characters from the 70’s what’s there not to love?

In truth, the search for Bruce Wayne does not progress a lot in this issue since much of the time is spent bringing all the characters together.  SPOILER WARNING  I also have to say that the fight between Claw and Rip Hunter seemed contrived and lame.  I mean Rip Hunter maybe a master of time travel but Claw is a warrior who dismembers people and monsters on a regular bases so how does Rip come out on top in their fight?  END SPOILER WARNING  Despite those drawbacks I still enjoyed this issue and several questions and clues where brought up that I’m sure will be of great importance as the series moves along.  I’m also confident that everything that happens in this issue does have a bearing on finding Bruce Wayne and foiling Darkseids plot.  The bottom line is that if you tried the first issue and you enjoyed it you’ll enjoy this issue as well.  If you tried the first issue and you didn’t enjoy it then don’t bother coming back for the second issue.  If you didn’t try the first at all this second issue is not a good jumping on point.  My best advice is to go back and pick-up issue number one and start from the beginning.  I think you’ll enjoy it and then you can read this issue.
