Green Hornet: Year One #5
Since, there was nothing new this week that I felt like doing a review of I decided to review a comic that came out a couple of weeks ago. I choose Green Hornet: Year One #5 to review because I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series so far and I think more people need to know about Matt Wagner’s Green Hornet series.
Right away, let me say that this issue of Green Hornet: Year One was every bit as good as the earlier issues in the series. Matt Wagner’s story gives the reader everything they could want from a comic. The story has a sound plot, characters that the reader can care about and action to keep things exciting. The art teams limited color palate and detailed line work serve to heighten the mood of the story while the layout of the panels aids the storytelling. SPOILER WARNING Once, again most of this issue is set early in the Green Hornet’s career with occasional flashbacks to important events that lead to the Britt Reid’s decision to wage his war on crime. In this issue we see young Britt Reid take over his father’s newspaper and his crusade against organized crime. We also witness the strangle hold organized crime has on the city which leads Britt to his decision to strike from the shadows. END SPOILER WARNING I really can’t say enough good things about this issue and this series overall; so I’ll just say that everyone who reads this review should go out and get a copy of issue number one. I’m sure that you will not regret giving this series a try.
