Secret Six #27

For a long time it was an axiom in the comic book industry that it was the cover that sold the book.  I don’t think that the cover plays as important a role in selling a book as it once did but an eye catching cover doesn’t hurt.  It was Daniel Luvisi’s incredible cover that caught my eye and prompted me to do my review this week on this issue of Secret Six.  I mean, how could anyone not pick-up a comic that has Bane riding on a T-Rex with a huge spear in his hand.

Aside from the awesome cover I really can not recommend getting this issue.  Since this issue is part three of a four part storyline it really is not assessible to a casual reader.  For those who have been reading Secret Six, on a regular bases, this maybe a fine issue but trying to come in so close to the climax of the storyline just doesn’t work.  SPOILER WARNING  It was pretty shocking to see Amanda Waller put a bullet in the head of a federal agent in cold blood.  After doing the deed her exit line is classic Amanda Waller.    END SPOILER WARNING

In the end, all I can say is if you have been reading Secret Six continue to do so.  If you want to give Secret Six a try don’t start with this issue no matter how incredible the cover maybe.  My advice instead is to wait for the beginning of the next storyline.
